Leveraging data to provide better quality control and improve services has become a key theme for the automotive industry. Volkswagen would like to take a step further to use data science to drive quality improvements.
In this challenge, Volkswagen was looking for novel ideas and concepts to incentivize drivers to share diagnostic and car usage data from their cars in order to improve quality assurance and the customer experience. Solutions could be wide ranging and may include, but were not limited to, new services, app functions, features, or additional digital services around the car that can add value for customers and/or be fun for drivers.
The solutions were based on diagnostic and car usage data elements but also utilized additional data (for example, data collected from vehicles or data obtainable from a user’s smartphone) in order to provide attractive services, features/app functions, or additional digital services around the car that can add value for customers and/or be fun for drivers.
